Update: GobliNews Launches!
In GobliNews > Updates - Posted on Tuesday, March 3rd, 2009 at 12:00amHello there! On this day in prior years, many important things have happened; according to Wikipedia, in 1875 the first indoor organised hockey game was played (in Montréal in fact), in 1923 TIME magazine was published for the first time, in 1938 oil was discovered in Saudi-Arabia and in 1939 Gandhi began fasting in protest of India's autocracy.
I didn't mention these events in order to sound pretentious by relating them to my site's launch; I don't expect this website to ever be as much of a cultural event as the birth of modern hockey, as successful as TIME magazine, as important in terms of world politics as the discovery of oil in Saudi-Arabia or as exemplary as Gandhi's activism. Next to these events, the launch of GobliNews is pretty insignificant. I didn't select today as the launch day of the website for any of these reasons. It was simply convenient to launch today. I listed these other events to make a point: important things happen in the world every day and they should be reported and discussed. Sure there are all kinds of news sources, but in my opinion you can never get enough information.
I created this site for fun; I have no agenda when it comes to reporting what I will be reporting and will try to report on topics as impartially as possible (although I'll most probably be transparent when it comes to my opinions despite my efforts). Feel free to discuss any of the topics I address in the comment sections below the articles.
Registration for the site is completely optional. At this point I'll admit there isn't much of a point to registering other than being able to upload a display picture that will be appended to your comments and to be added to the users list (accessible from the menu on the left). I'll probably be adding features in the future though.
If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer 6, let me just say... sorry. This site will look really bad! I would suggest you update your browser to the most recent versions of Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome or Opera. Your web-surfing experience will improve dramatically on this and many other websites if you choose to upgrade.
Thanks for reading this lengthy introduction to the site, if you need more there's more wordiness in the “About” section of the site. If you're ready to read some articles, just look below this post (this only applies if you're viewing the home page since on the entry page it's comments below)! You'll find 5 articles, 3 have been carried over from an older version of the site, but the other two are brand new! If you end up browsing the “Topics” section of the site, don't be surprised that they're mostly empty. They should get filled over time.
Thanks for dropping by and I look forward to reading your comments!

Nice Adje!
I am super upset that I didn't stay up till midnight for the launch... I passed out around 11:30 - SORRY!
Also, site looks great on Safari (and since Fredella and I both use Safari, the percentage of Safari users on this site is probably higher then any other site on the web!)
